IPRR 2022 Fundraising Plea
Dear Neighbors,
In this season approaching solstice, our faith traditions proclaim the coming of new light. Newtown’s all-volunteer Interfaith Partnership for Refugee Resettlement (IPRR) is actively offering light to families fleeing darkness in other parts of our world.
Responding to global crises, IPRR volunteers have doubled our efforts in 2022. We are currently sponsoring and resettling two families – one from Ukraine, and one from El Salvador – now living among us. Oh, the joy we witness as families experience safety and new life!
We invite you to share in this unique joy by donating to IPRR. Settling two families requires funding for basic human necessities – food, clothing, shelter, utilities, transportation – until new residents are able to earn a living, becoming self-sufficient.
You can make a donation directly from your cellphone using the QR code at the bottom of this article or mail a check to IPRR @ Trinity Episcopal Church, 36 Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470.
Having successfully settled 5 families since 2016, Interfaith Partnership for Refugee Resettlement is seeking to raise $20,000 in the 2022 holiday season to meet these basic needs. We who live in safety and comfort are invited to share our resources with families arriving from war zones, places of instability or violence.
IPRR Teams set up homes with furnishings, provide clothing and food, and pay rent until employment can be obtained. We enroll children into local schools, translate languages, offer culturally-sensitive welcome and support, give rides, assist in finding employment and medical care. It is a multi-faceted endeavor, as volunteers on ten different committees work to help a family get a good start in our community, and we really need your help.
Our partner faith communities are Muslim, B’ahai, Jewish, and Christian; we model a cooperative spirit of unity that enhances our common civic life. None of our leaders are paid; we have no overhead costs. An independent interfaith group, our fiscal sponsor is Trinity Episcopal Church, and all funds raised go directly to refugee family needs.
Please visit our website to volunteer: https://www.iprefugeer.org/ We work under the guidance of Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Services of New Haven; see: https://irisct.org/
As we celebrate a season of hearth and home, of light shining in darkness, we offer you an opportunity for you to BE the light, to share comfort and safety with our neighbors in need. May the blessings of light be yours,
