The Rev. Kathleen E. Adams-Shepherd

Rector

Kathleen “Kathie” Adams-Shepherd has served as the rector of Trinity since 1996, having previously ministered at churches in Oswego, Clayton, and Cape Vincent in New York state. She is a graduate of Union Theological Seminary in New York City, where she was seminarian-on-staff at St. James Church, Madison Ave. A native of Weymouth, Massachusetts, she and her husband Shep are both connected to historic colonial families. In addition to her priestly ministry at Trinity and volunteering with the Bishop’s Fund for Children, Kathie enjoys power walking, the beaches of Cape Cod, the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, reading, tennis and puns. She has two children, a dog, and a rabbit.

Fiona Smith Sutherland

Music Minister

Fiona Smith Sutherland came to Trinity in 2005, after serving as organist and choir director for churches in New Jersey, Delaware, Connecticut, and New York. She holds an undergraduate degree in Organ and Sacred Music and a Masters in Music from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, NJ, and has studied with musicians Gerre Hancock, Pierre Pincemaille, Robert Shaw, Dennis Keene, John Rutter, Jean Ashworth Bartle, and more. She was born and spent her earliest years in Scotland, and now resides in Connecticut with her husband David, their son, and a cat. In addition to her delight in introducing people of all ages to the joy of singing and music, Fiona enjoys reading, tennis, and the adventures of Harry Potter.!

Susan H. Vogelman

Children’s and Youth Education Minister

Sue, a native of Newtown, has been our Minister of Children’s Education since 2000 and added Youth Education to her role in 2007. Prior to joining Trinity’s staff, she taught at Sandy Hook Elementary School for 10 years. She loves working with children and youth and is inspired by their natural faith, wisdom and enthusiasm. She especially enjoys using joyful music, movement, drama and prayer to enrich the worship and formation of children of all ages. She has been a member of Trinity Church since 1989 with her husband Tim and their two sons.

Paige B. Fischer

Secretary/Office Administrator

Paige is a Newtown resident, married, and has three wonderful children. She loves bird watching, reading and going to New Hampshire. Paige arrived at Trinity after selling her own successful business.

Jennifer Tomaino

Administrative Assistant/Bookkeeper

Jen is a native of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, settling in Brookfield Connecticut in 1994. She joined Trinity’s staff as bookkeeper in 2007, bringing us the expertise of her considerable background in finance, accounting, and equity analysis. In addition to maintaining Trinity’s financial records in good order, she enjoys working with children, gardening, Girl Scouts, cooking, and volunteering in the community. She and her husband Tony have two children and a dog.

John J. "Jack" Qubick

Sexton

Jack has been the Sexton at Trinity Church since 1998. He enjoys maintaining the building and grounds at Trinity Church, keeping them clean and in order, along with supporting the maintenance of the clergy's houses. Jack has lived in Newtown for over sixty years and has been married to his wife Terry for more than forty. His hobbies are gardening, sports, hunting and fishing.

Kathy Mayor

Nursery Caregiver

Kathy has worked in the nursery as our paid caregiver since 2003. She enjoys playing with and taking care of the children on Sunday mornings together with our parish volunteers. She has lived in Newtown since 1987 with her son and husband and also works at Hawley School.
