Children and Youth Formation Classes begin on September 18th after the 9:30am worship service or from about 10:45 to 11:45am.
Classes will meet in their usual locations with elementary grades on the Church School hallway and youth classes as follows. Rite 13 (6th & 7th Grades) in the Children’s Chapel area of the Glover Community Room, J2A (8th & 9th Grades) meets upstairs in the John Beach Room, and YAC (10th, 11th, & 12th Grades) will meet downstairs in the basement Youth Room.
Together with the Trinity Children’s Formation Task Force we’re working toward easier-to-use curriculum with more hands-on outreach integrated into the lessons to provide a more relevant and approachable learning experience for our children.
Younger preschool and elementary classes will explore using the Godly Play style curriculum which is story-based with simple scripts and props to allow the children to think about where they fit into God’s stories. You’ve probably seen me do some Godly Play lessons in Children’s Liturgy and you know how much the children love it and learn from it.
Older elementary and intermediate children will be trying out the Building Faith Brick by Brick curriculum to explore faith stories using Legos to retell the stories and make mini-movies.
Youth Classes are using the Leader Resources Youth Ministry Center membership to allow for more flexibility in the lesson planning with seasonal Trinity-inspired themes, and to provide opportunities to tie the lessons into real world events and outreach.
